Kochi (土佐 -KOCHI- Tosa -Kochi-?) is the name of a stage background featured in the first game of the Samurai Shodown (series). During arcade mode Jubei Yagyu is the stage's titular, as well when a new challenger chooses him. This is the first of a series of bamboo stages based on the characteristic and iconic Japanese bamboo forests, becoming a staple for most of the Samurai Shodown games. Kōchi (高知?) is the name of the Prefecture where Tosa town is located.

Description[]

Each time when a Round is about to begin some dry leaves appear being carried through the air (this is classic from old Samurai movies when two swordsmen are about to have a duel).

The battle takes place in the middle of a bamboo forest. The floor is fully covered by dry bamboo leaves, and it can be seen a line where there are few leaves, which marks a path. In the near front there are three interactive bamboos, which can be cut with Slash attacks. At the back there is a Japanese hut; on the right side of the entrance there are a wooden bucket and broom. Rightmost there is a homemade tomato crop. A little more up front, a well is located.

Musical themes[]

The soundtrack for this stage is an ambiental piece called "Bamboo Thicket" (竹林 Chikurin).
